Processing & Refining turns what comes out of the ground into product — crushing, beneficiation, the alumina refinery, the laboratory and quality control.
Own metallurgical performance: daily accounting, recovery against the model, and the investigation when the numbers drift and nobody can say why.
A continuous plant is never stopped, only handed over, which makes shift discipline and handover quality the difference between a good week and an incident. In the refinery the work is with caustic liquor at temperature, and the protective equipment requirements are absolute rather than advisory.
Day to day this role works with Analysis, Metallurgy, Test Work and Recovery.
The same for every role, at every level — a haul truck driver and a staff engineer get the same cover.
