European Logistics Manager

About this role

Shipping, Freight & Customs moves the goods: carrier relationships, bookings, documentation, customs clearance, chartering and vessel operations.

Run European inbound and distribution from Rotterdam: carriers, customs into the EU, bonded movement and onward delivery across the union.

This is the part of trade that happens in the physical world and refuses to be tidy. Vessels get omitted, containers get held for examination, a wrong container number on a bill of lading stops a consignment at the gate, and demurrage accrues while somebody argues. The work is judged on landed cost and on how few surprises reach the buyer.

Primary responsibilities

• Manage European logistics from Rotterdam — inbound, warehousing and onward distribution
• Manage the road, rail and barge network across the union
• Handle customs and the transit procedures that apply inside and at the border of the EU
• Manage the warehouse and distribution partners and their performance
• Own cost and service across the European network

Skills required

Day to day this role works with Logistics, Carrier Management, Customs and EU Trade.

• Six or more years in European logistics, with EU customs experience
• Eligible to work in the Netherlands
• Five or more years in European logistics
• Road, rail and barge networks across the union
• Customs and transit procedures inside and at the EU border
• Warehouse and distribution partner management
• Cost and service ownership across a network
• EU work eligibility
