Build the pipelines behind hiring analytics — funnel conversion, time to hire, source quality — and be the person who can say whether a number is trustworthy.
The hard part is not the pipeline; it is that two teams asking the same question must get the same answer. Most of the work is in the semantic layer and in being willing to say a number is not trustworthy yet.
Day to day this role works with PostgreSQL, SQL, Python and Airflow.
None of these are required. They are the things that would help, and a strong application is regularly missing all of them.
SQL-first, with dbt for modelling and Airflow for orchestration. Analysts and engineers sit together rather than throwing requests over a wall.
Analyst to analytics engineer to data engineer is a well-worn path here, and the reverse happens too.
Pune hosts backend engineering, data and part of the trade operations team, alongside a share of supply-chain work.
A shorter commute and a lower cost of living than Mumbai, with the same access to the western trade corridor. Many people here work with teams in Bengaluru and Mumbai rather than only locally.
