Land & Liaison Officer

About this role

Mine Administration runs the site's supporting functions — stores, the explosive magazine, weighbridge, dispatch, time office, security, HR, community relations and statutory compliance.

Handle land records, lease documentation and the day-to-day dealings with the district administration, the mining department and the pollution control board.

Several of these are control points rather than clerical jobs. The weighbridge slip drives invoicing and royalty computation, the explosive register is a legal document that gets audited, and contractor labour compliance is where site operations most often get into serious trouble. Integrity in these roles matters more than experience.

Primary responsibilities

• Handle land matters for the operation — records, acquisition, rights and the disputes that come with them
• Liaise with the revenue authorities, the district administration and the statutory bodies
• Maintain the lease and land documentation and keep it current
• Support statutory clearances and the renewals of them
• Handle rehabilitation and resettlement obligations where they apply

Skills required

Day to day this role works with Negotiation, Documentation, Land Records and Government Liaison.

• Five or more years in land acquisition or government liaison for an industrial project
• Know your way around revenue records and the district office
• A degree, preferably in law, revenue administration or a related field
• Four or more years handling land matters for an industrial or mining operation
• Land records, acquisition, rights and dispute handling
• Liaison with revenue authorities, district administration and statutory bodies
