Survey & Geology maps the deposit and measures the working — statutory survey, grade control, exploration and the sampling everything else is judged on.
Own grade control at the mine: logging, sampling, the block model against actual production, and telling operations when the ore is not where the model said it would be.
Mine survey is a statutory function: the plans are legally required, and confirming the working stays inside the lease boundary is an obligation rather than a courtesy. Grade control decides what the operation is actually worth, because the marks a geologist puts on a face are what the operators dig to.
Day to day this role works with Geology, Core Logging, Grade Control and Sampling.
The same for every role, at every level — a haul truck driver and a staff engineer get the same cover.
