UX Writer

About this role

Design owns what people move through under pressure: applying for work, sitting an interview, receiving or declining an offer.

Write the words inside the product — buttons, empty states, errors and the rejection email. A lot of what we write reaches someone on a bad day, and the wording is the whole experience.

The recruiter console is dense, configurable and used eight hours a day — designing it is a systems problem, not a screens problem. The candidate side is the opposite: someone anxious, on a phone, possibly at a moment that matters a great deal to them. Clarity beats novelty on both.

Primary responsibilities

• Write the words in the product: labels, empty states, errors, notifications and the confirmation screens
• Get the difficult messages right — a rejection, a failed upload, an expired link — where tone carries real weight
• Own the content style guide and the terminology, and keep the product consistent with it
• Write for a global, multilingual audience, and for translation, avoiding constructions that break in other languages
• Work with designers from the start rather than filling in lorem ipsum at the end

Skills required

Day to day this role works with Editing, UX Writing and Content Design.

• Three or more years of UX or content writing
• You can cut a sentence in half without losing it
• Three or more years writing interface copy
• A portfolio showing errors, empty states and difficult messages, not only marketing copy
• Ability to hold a content style guide and terminology across a product
• Writing for translation and for a multilingual audience
