Trade Finance Manager — MENA

About this role

Trade Finance & Insurance makes it possible for a seller to ship to a buyer they have never met — credit insurance, letters of credit, guarantees and the risk view behind them.

Own trade finance across the MENA corridor from Dubai: letters of credit, guarantees, and the structures regional banks and counterparties actually use.

Cross-border trade fails on trust and on documents, in that order. The instruments here are old and unforgiving: a discrepancy on a document set can hold payment for weeks, and a credit limit set carelessly becomes a loss six months later. Multiple jurisdictions, multiple regulators, and rules that reward people who have read the actual text.

Primary responsibilities

• Manage trade finance for the MENA corridor from Dubai
• Work with regional banks on facilities, letters of credit and guarantees
• Handle the documentary and regulatory requirements of the region, including the Islamic finance structures where a counterparty requires them
• Manage sanctions screening rigorously, which in this corridor is the single highest-consequence control
• Support the commercial team on structuring for regional buyers

Skills required

Day to day this role works with Letters of Credit, UCP 600, Structured Trade and Islamic Finance.

• Seven or more years in trade finance, with Gulf market experience
• Familiar with Islamic trade finance structures
• Eligible to work in the UAE
• Five or more years in trade finance with MENA corridor experience
• Regional bank relationships for facilities, letters of credit and guarantees
• Regional documentary and regulatory requirements
